According to recent reports, Flamengo has successfully finalized an agreement with Roma for the transfer of Matias Vina. The 26-year-old Uruguayan full-back, currently on loan at Sassuolo, is set to conclude his time in Italy and make a move to Brazil.
Vina faced a decline in favor under Jose Mourinho at Roma, leading him to spend six months on loan at Bournemouth last season before joining Sassuolo in the summer. Roma, having recently parted ways with Mourinho, now find themselves in a challenging situation. With Daniele De Rossi brought in as an interim replacement, the club is not anticipated to make significant investments in the upcoming winter transfer window due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.
Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo reports that Flamengo has reached an agreement to acquire Vina from Roma in a definitive deal valued at €8 million, with an additional €1 million in add-ons. The process of suspending his loan at Sassuolo is currently underway to facilitate his move to the Brazilian side.
Vina showcased his skills by providing three assists in 15 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo this season, demonstrating promise before being sidelined with a knee injury.
