Milan has reportedly reached an agreement to loan striker Luka Romero to the Spanish side Almeria. This decision comes after negotiations with Boca Juniors broke down over the terms of the transfer.
Romero had expressed a desire to join Boca Juniors, the club he has supported since childhood. However, various sources indicate that the Argentine giants were pushing for a deal that included an option to buy.
In contrast, Milan is determined to retain Romero for the future, and consequently, they have opted for a straightforward six-month loan to Almeria.
Romero is expected to undergo medical tests on Monday, after which he can finalize the necessary paperwork.
The 19-year-old versatile striker, born in Mexico and raised in Argentina, moved to Spain at an early age to join the Formentera youth academy. He progressed through the Mallorca system and transferred to Lazio for a mere €200,000 in the summer of 2021.
After his contract with Lazio expired, Romero joined Milan as a free agent in 2023. However, he has only made five appearances in Serie A and the Coppa Italia this season.
